National Theatre Live: Shakespeare in Ceredigion

This Thursday, both the Aberystwyth Arts Centre and Theatr Mwldan will broadcast a star-studded National Theatre Live performance of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus.

The Donmar Warehouse’s production of Shakespeare’s famous political tragedy is directed by the Donmar’s Artistic Director Josie Rourke, and stars Hollywood A-lister Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers and War Horse) in the title role and Mark Gatiss (from BBC’s Sherlock) as Menenius.

When an old adversary threatens Rome, the city calls once more on her hero and defender: Coriolanus. But he has enemies at home too. Famine threatens the city, the citizens’ hunger swells to an appetite for change, and on returning from the field Coriolanus must confront the march of realpolitik and the voice of an angry people.

The performance starts at 7pm on Thursday, January the 30th.

Tickets cost £12.50 at Theatr Mwldan and £13 at Aberystwyth Arts Centre

Don’t worry if you miss it, as the Arts Centre will be holding an encore screening on the 3rd of Feb (more to come), while Theatr Mwldan will be holding viewings all week.
