A feast of world-class music is coming to Theatr Mwldan on Monday 28 October at 7.30pm when two international bands, hand-picked from prestigious international showcases appearing at WOMEX 2013 in Cardiff, make a special stage appearance in Cardigan as part of the Wales-wide Horizons tour, co-produced by Creu Cymru and Theatr Mwldan.

Cardiff will host the 13th edition of WOMEX, the major annual international music industry event being presented in the Welsh capital from 23 – 27 October by Cerdd Cymru / Music Wales. More than 30 artists from every corner of the globe will be arriving in Wales to perform at WOMEX in Cardiff, and more than 2,500 delegates from over 90 countries will attend.

Of these, two bands will be making a special appearance at Theatr Mwldan:

Cumbia All Stars_press2013_credit_Revista-Cosas_1Cumbria All Stars from Peru – Like a Peruvian Buena Vista Social Club, the 8-piece Cumbia All Stars come from the legendary bands of Peruvian Cumbia and, after 40 years, they meet again to finally play together the music they participated in creating.

Also on the bill are DnA – by name, and by nature: music is in the very DNA of this hugely talented mother-and-daughter duo Delyth & Angharad Jenkins from Wales, both of whom enjoy international reputations not only as soloists but as members of such bands as Calan, Adran D, Aberjaber and Cromlech. Whether they’re vamping up a traditional oldie or minting something entirely new, there’s a timeless beauty to these intimate and irresistible conversations between harp and fiddle.

As an extra bonus, Theatr Mwldan will also be holding a special 4-hour workshop, led by Community Music Wales, starting at noon on Monday 28 October. Members of the public will have the chance to join a collaborative music workshop, which will be joined for the final hour by the two members of DnA.

Tickets cost £14 (£12 concessions).
