That’s right, the whole month of October is going to be given up in celebration of the region’s best food producers, with enough offers and events to shake a leek at. All this coming from the destination that, just a few months ago, established the Ceredigion Taste Trail to call attention to the huge variety of food and drink producers that call this picturesque corner of Wales home.
Here’s what we’re most looking forward to sampling…
Da Mhile‘s mountain dew
Pronounced da-vee-lay this distillery proudly crafts the world’s first organic whisky using 100% organic barley, yeast and pure water. Da Mhile is Gaelic for ‘2000’ and the first bottling was made available prior to the millennium celebrations. Bottle number 1000 of this limited edition series was given to H.R.H. The Prince of Wales – if it’s fit for a royal, it’s fit for us!
Discover Felin Ganol Mill’s tricks of the ancient trade
The mill will be putting on tours around one of the last working powered corn mills in Wales who still use original machinery dated as far back as the 16th century. This age old tradition is fascinating and now we can learn what goes behind that soft white loaf we are so accustomed to.
Mouthwatering Caws Teifi Cheese
These guys are one of the businesses who thrive in the heart of the Teifi Valley, otherwise known as the ‘Loire of Welsh cheese making’. They masterfully produce several distinct cheeses using only the finest, locally sourced unpasteurised milk. Their award-winning ‘Teifi’ cheese is their bestseller, but don’t miss ‘Celtic Promise’, ‘Saval’ or tangy ‘Teifi Blue’ for something slightly stronger.
